What are tokens?

Tokens are what helps the CoinaPhoto community work.  As a photographer, tokens allow you to buy, gift and download photos from the Market, and - as an added benefit - enable you to publicly recognise great work from other CoinaPhoto photographers through acts of ‘gifting’.

When you access your Wallet you can check your current token balance and purchase additional tokens to start gifting to other CoinaPhoto photographers.  Each token holds the equivalent value of $0.20 USD* (*please see our website T&C’s for details on value of tokens and service charges).

How do I use tokens?

Selling Photos

You can sell your photos in our Market. During the upload process you have the option of setting your prices. Sell them at what they’re worth or check out what prices other photographers are using in the Market to stay competitive. Photos usually range from 25 to 75 tokens ($5USD to $15USD). If your photo is purchased – congratulations! Tokens will automatically be added to your Wallet and you’ll get a notification from us.

Gifting to other CoinaPhoto Photographers

You can gift your tokens to other CoinaPhoto photographers as a way to say ‘congratulations!’ and comment on their work.  If you find a photo that you like, simply click on ‘gift token’ and they will receive a token as a gift from you!

How do I redeem tokens for cash?

Whether you are selling or gifting, you always have the option of redeeming your tokens for cash via PayPal, from coinaphoto.com (unfortunately this cannot be done on the app). Simply follow the online directions from the Wallet page and your tokens will be redeemed for cash and the value deposited into your PayPal account.  Just keep in mind that you can only redeem up to 250 tokens per day and photographers receive a 70% commission on all redeemed tokens (CoinaPhoto applies a small service charge on all redemptions – please review our T&Cs for more information).

What are ‘service fees’?

Service fees relate to third party costs that CoinaPhoto incurs during the process of selling your photos on your behalf.  We do our best to ensure these are kept to a minimum so that CoinaPhoto photographers are able to be rewarded and recognised for their talent.
